Welding Technology for Practicing Engineers

Welding Technology for Practicing Engineers

Date : 17 to 18 September, 2024   Location / Mode : Bengaluru

Last date for registration 10 September 2024
INTRODUCTION

Joining two or more components is always one of the most important tasks. While hardware like nut-bolt is used for joints that need frequent or periodic dismantling processes like welding, brazing and soldering are used for permanent joining of parts. Welding is also used to build up a complicated component. The performance of the welded joint depends on

  • Design of the welded joint
    • Type of welding
    • Joint design
    • Selection of proper electrodes / filler material
  • Welding process
    • Like Manual Arc / TIG / MIG etc
    • Pre-heating and post heating
  • Inspection process
    • Qualification of the process
    • Certification of the welder
    • NDT and other tests
    • Dimensional accuracy

The equipment designer needs to consider many parameters while designing.

Keeping this in view, Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers' Association is organizing a training on Welding Technology for Practicing Engineers.

  • Introduction to the Welding Technology
  • Brief History
  • Classification of Welding
  • Arc Welding
  • Gas Welding
  • Flame Characteristics
  • Weld Design
  • Weld Symbols
  • Weld Process Specifications
  • Weld Testing
  • Weld Defects
  • Welding Techniques
  • Welding of Dissimilar Metals
  • Welding Safety

  • Thorough knowledge on fundamentals of Tolerances in engineering design
  • Represent and interpret tolerances given in drawings
  • Significance of fundamental deviation and tolerance grade
  • Procedure for calculating limits for a given tolerance class
  • Significances of tolerance values in product cost and reliability

  • This workshop is for Engineers from departments like Design, Development, R & D, and New Product Development.
  • This interactive workshop will help the practicing engineers get a detailed insight in the various aspects of welding process, weld design and how to design the machine components where welding is involved.
  • Senior and middle level managers and specially Product Development Managers can benefit from understanding the welding process and its applications.
  • This program is useful for fresh engineers in Quality, Erection and Commissioning and servicing departments.

This program will be conducted by Mr. D B Kulkarni.

Mr. D B Kulkarni has 30+ years' experience on Design and Development of machine design in the industries like M/s KEC, Bengaluru, M/s CGL and 11 years as Corporate Trainer and Consultant.
