Systematic Shopfloor Management (SSM)

Systematic Shopfloor Management (SSM)

Date : 11 to 12 September, 2024   Location / Mode : Bengaluru

INTRODUCTION

Are you an organization struggling to improve utilization of your machines & resources? Or are you organization struggling to fulfil your customer demand due to capacity limitations, then the solution to your struggle is (SSM) Systematic Shopfloor Management. SSM is an element of Lean manufacturing. Lean, as the word says in not more or less, it’s just optimum manufacturing. It is understanding our customer better and delivering 100% to fulfil their requirements. It's about manufacturing better quality, in lesser cost and lesser time by reducing or eliminating ‘waste’. Waste refers to any activities or processes that is done on the shopfloor which doesn’t add value to customer. Lean principles streamline processes, eliminate waste, and empower people to deliver exceptional results.

It is an approach to improve overall productivity of the manufacturing line by driving the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) of the Pacemaker / Bottleneck machine thru the SFMC approach. Through SSM, organizations would be able to optimize the utilization of resources like Man, Machines, Materials, Tools, Power, etc.

Keeping this in view Manufacturing Technology Training is organizing a two days training on SSM Systematic Shopfloor Management, at Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association, Bangalore.

The participants would be able to strengthen their working knowledge and understanding about…

  • Cycle time study and work study
  • Customer takt time, Delivery takt time, Line take time
  • Bottleneck and Pacemaker process
  • Hourly Production Monitoring and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Availability losses, Performance losses and Quality losses
  • SSM review on shopfloor through Pareto, Problem solving and PDCA approach
  • Participants can bring their real-life problems and the relevant data during the workshop. The discussions will be held on this during the 2nd half of the workshop.

  • How to prepare a takt time diagram to address Customer commitment, Capacity check & production planning.
  • Close monitoring of Shopfloor production and taking timely actions to ensure Zero failure to Customer
  • Strong understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness
  • Problem Solving approach (RCA) and PDCA
  • Driving productivity and Quality across the manufacturing line.

SSM would strengthen your manufacturing by…

  • Accountability at the shopfloor operator level by Hourly monitoring of production to capture the losses
  • Addressing the losses which is leading to a difference between standard cycle time & actual cycle time.
  • Analysis of losses through PDCA approach & leadership involvement
  • Improves Production efficiency not only in Quantity but also in Quality
  • Helps in planning production and committing to the customer
  • Stabilize, improves and sustains OEE though systematic process.

Production Engineers, Production Managers, Production Planners, Process Engineers, Purchase buyers, Supplier Development engineers, Maintenance personnel and Quality Engineers working in Private / Public Sector Organizations

This program will be delivered by Nikhil Somashekar.
