INTRODUCTIONVDA 6.3 (Verband der Automobilindustrie) defines a process based audit standard for evaluating and improving controls in a manufacturing organisation's new product introduction and manufacturing process. This standard caters to the German automotive industries whose requirements are unique and complex. In the present day race to outbeat others, TTM (time to market) has become very short. Hence, the demand for adhering to the standard has increased. The standard digs deep into each process element over the entire product realisation cycle with strong focus on Preventive Quality Assurance. Emphasis is on identifying, assessing and managing risk. If implemented in true spirit, there is almost no chance of making mistakes.Thereby, none of the key performance indicators, QCD, demanded by Customers, are compromised. The German automobile industry has made it mandatory for Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers to comply with the requirements of this standard and get certified. Keeping this in view, IMTMA is organizing a training program on Essentials on VDA 6.3 implementation.
With a proper understanding of the standard, one can derive the following benefits in the entire product realisation cycle.
