Surface finishing of components with extremely tight tolerance requirements require methods beyond just grinding. In order to make such parts, there are finer finishing Techniques such as Cylindrical Honing, Flat Honing, Lapping and Superfinishing, wherein these methods smooth the outer surface of a metal and refine the geometry to be able to produce precision components, which have many specific applications. But being niche processes, there is lack of general awareness about these processes.
